World's Greatest Stretch
Lunge position combining hip flexor length, adductor range and thoracic rotation in one sequence. A dense warm-up entry that covers several joints in a short time.
- 01Step into a long lunge with the right foot forward and both hands on the floor inside the right foot.
- 02Drop the left knee lightly to the mat and press the hips forward until the front of the left hip lengthens.
- 03Drive the left hand into the floor and rotate the right arm up toward the ceiling, following the hand with your eyes.
- 04Return the right hand to the floor, then straighten the front leg and shift the hips back to load the hamstring.
- 05Return to the lunge, step through to standing, and repeat on the other side for four to six rounds each.
- 01Front shin stays vertical or slightly past — do not let it fall inward.
- 02Reach the top hand behind you, not just up.
- 03Squeeze the back glute before you press the hip forward.
- 01Letting the back hip sag toward the floor — the low back extends instead of the hip flexor lengthening.
- 02Rotating with a rounded upper back — the range comes from the lumbar spine rather than the thoracic segments.
- 03Bouncing at the end range — the tissue braces against the speed instead of settling into the position.
Note: Reference material, not a prescription. Load, volume and whether this movement suits you at all depends on your assessment — if something hurts, stop and get it looked at.
