Box Drop-To-Stick
Step off a low box and freeze the landing. The entry point to plyometrics: it teaches force absorption before you ask the body to rebound out of it.
- 01Set a box at 25 to 40 cm and stand at the edge.
- 02Step off with one foot and let gravity bring you down — do not jump off.
- 03Land on both forefeet simultaneously, hip-width apart, knees bending to a quarter squat.
- 04Freeze the landing for three full seconds: knees over toes, hips back, chest up, feet quiet.
- 05Step back up and repeat for 5 to 8 reps early in the session, before heavy or fast work.
- 01Quiet feet, then stone still.
- 02Hips back, knees out.
- 03Count to three before you move.
- 01Landing with straight legs — the joints and not the muscles take the load, which is the whole thing this drill exists to fix.
- 02Any wobble or extra step after landing — that means the box is too high for now, not that you need to try harder.
- 03Rushing to rebound jumps before the stick is clean — every reactive plyometric is built on this landing.
Note: Reference material, not a prescription. Load, volume and whether this movement suits you at all depends on your assessment — if something hurts, stop and get it looked at.
